The Office of International Linkages Diliman is one of the eight (8) offices under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA). It was created for three main functions:

Teaching and Learning: through international mobility of faculty, student, and staff
  1. bring in new ideas that may lead to the institution of new programs;

  2. generate inputs for the review and revision of existing programs;

  3. develop innovative teaching and learning methods.

Research, Creative Work and Extension
  1. organize or support forums for discussing international issues on which topics for collaborative research and creative work may be based;

  2. establish or assist international industry and community linkages hinged on mutually agreed upon thematic issues;

  3. promote multi-cultural interactions.

Administration and Legal Matters:
  1. recommend engagement policies and develop systems for efficient international networking;

  2. oversee the implementation of international MOAs/MOUs between partner universities;

  3. coordinate with other U.P. units on international exchange-related matters; and

  4. process documents related to international mobility of faculty, student and staff.

Engagement

OIL Diliman’s role is to ENGAGE the UP Diliman community in internationalization goals through collaborative activities with institutions abroad. The local community is encouraged to actively participate in programs and projects that are meant to enrich the teaching, learning and administration competencies of faculty, students and REPS. Through strong local relational networks grounded on clarified interfaces of diverse roles, UP Diliman can better ENGAGE in the international realm.

Mission and Vision

To serve as the bridge that will allow multi-directional exchanges between the University of the Philippines Diliman and academic institutions, with the goal of bringing in new knowledge and technologies that will make UP Diliman’s academic, research and extension activities at par with global standards while enhancing the appreciation of the Filipino identity.

Organization

A three-tiered organization is laid out for OILD to effectively carry out activities related to Teaching, Research and Extension and Legal and Administration. The Teaching Section shall initiate and manage internationalization activities that have to do with jointly-implemented academic programs and shared courses. It will also organize venue through which faculty and student exchanges can translate to the improvement of curricular programs and educational technologies. The Research and Extension Section is proposed to facilitate collaborative projects leading to the development of new knowledge, joint publications and research dissemination through symposia and conferences. It will also manage activities related to jointly-implemented community service projects, internship programs and cross-border academe-industry links. The Administration and Legal Section will be in charge of activities related to processing/placement of inbound and outbound faculty, students and staff. It will also facilitate the signing of agreements between UPD and international partners.
