Visiting Faculty
UP Diliman, through its various departments, colleges and institutes, hosts International faculty to teach, collaborate on research/ extension/ creative work, or co-organize conferences and academic events, among others. The Terms of Reference for the visit are formulated jointly by the host unit and the visiting faculty/ sending institution.
International Visiting Profession
An International Visiting Faculty is hosted for a semester or two to teach courses in disciplinal or general education courses. One or two-way exchange may be facilitated by a Memorandum of Agreement between the sending and host university. Exchange stints involving non-partner universities may also be allowed based on the qualifications of the visiting faculty.
Such visits may be facilitated through UP Diliman or UP System funding windows that include the UP Visiting Professor Program
International Adjuct Faculty
An International Adjunct Faculty is sent by a private company or government institution to teach part-time in UP Diliman. Industry experience and affiliation are expected to add value to teaching by a non-tenure track faculty.
Short-term Visiting Lecturers/ Researchers/ Artists
Short-term Visiting Lecturers/ Researchers/ Artists are hosted for a few days to a few weeks based on their specialized fields or interdisciplinary bodies of work that may complement and add on those of UP Diliman’s faculty roster.
World Experts Lecture Series
World Experts Lecture Series (WELS) is a support for air travel, accommodations and per diem for one week, arrangements for the convocations, publicity of the event, social functions for invited imminent world leaders in academe, government, and industry to give special lectures in UP.
Applications can be submitted anytime and is processed immediately based on merit and availability of funds.
Visa requirements and other documentary requirements for International Faculty vary depending on the duration of the visit and other provisions of the Terms of Reference.
Evaluation and endorsement of International Faculty appointments are facilitated by the Academic Personnel and Fellowship Committee (APFC), chaired by the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
